Inventory control, down to the pair of gloves.

Industrial businesses needed a way to control inventory usage and streamline operations. We developed an integrated vending and inventory management system that lets employees access and track equipment, tools, and safety gear while giving the business real-time control and reporting.

design study
A design study of an inventory-control dashboard for an industrial vending platform: the glass front of a coil vending unit rendered as a grid of 48 slots with stock levels, slots below their reorder point outlined in orange, a detail panel for the selected slot, per-employee take limits, and a live dispense log.
A CKS design study of the inventory-control dashboard for this platform, drawn to illustrate the workflows described on this page: a live planogram of one vending unit, reorder thresholds per slot, per-employee take limits inside a time window, and dispenses queued while a device is offline. An original illustration of the product, not a capture of the client’s system. All names and figures on the screen are invented.

Overview

A vending and inventory system designed to help industrial companies manage inventory far more precisely than a supply cabinet allows.

The system supports coil units, locker units, drawer units and scanner units, covering everything from consumables to checked-out tools. Businesses can limit how many items an employee can take within a given window, which is the actual control mechanism for gloves, masks, and expensive shared equipment. Cloud infrastructure stores and receives data securely from physical devices running an Android application, in compliance with privacy and security standards. Real-time reporting, plug-and-play install, and API integrations let companies optimize across manufacturing, mining, automotive, and more.

The challenge

Industrial companies struggle to manage and control inventory usage, particularly around consumables where the honor system quietly costs a fortune. The problem is compounded by the need for real-time reporting and clean integration with systems already in place.

Tools and reusable items needed a reliable check-in and check-out flow. And the whole thing had to work across several different machine types, with secure cloud data management, while remaining simple enough to install without a systems integrator on site.

What we achieved

A comprehensive vending and inventory management solution that streamlined operations across industrial sites. Employees could access the tools and safety equipment they needed while inventory stayed controlled and accurately tracked.

Real-time reporting and API integrations gave businesses a clear view of stock levels, reducing downtime from shortages. The plug-and-play design made deployment practical across environments from manufacturing plants to mining operations. With cloud infrastructure and secure data handling, companies gained more efficient inventory usage, better compliance with safety standards, and improved operational efficiency.
